About YardSale.exchange
Big platforms like Facebook Marketplace and Zillow don't help communities thriveβthey exploit them. Every listing, message, and profile view is logged, analyzed, and sold. You are not the customer; you are the product.
YardSale.exchange runs on a different premise: no cookies, no tracking pixels, no algorithmic feeds. The site runs entirely in your browser, and your data belongs to you. Built on Nostr, no email required.
Terms and Conditions
1. No Platform Liability
YardSale.exchange is a decentralized Nostr client. We do not host, control, moderate, or endorse any listings. All content is published by users directly to the Nostr relay network. We are not responsible for transactions, disputes, fraud, or interactions between users.
2. Payments
All transactions are peer-to-peer. Users are solely responsible for compliance with local tax laws.
3. Content
Users are solely responsible for ensuring their listings comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws regarding the sale of goods, services, housing, and employment. Illegal items, scams, and harassment are not welcome; abuse may result in filtering by relay operators.
4. Privacy
We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, analytics, or third-party scripts. Your data is stored locally in your browser and on the Nostr relays you choose to connect to. We have no access to your private keys or messages.
5. As-Is Software
This site is provided without warranty of any kind. Use at your own risk.
Safety Best Practices
1. Meet in Public
Always arrange to meet in a well-lit, public place such as a coffee shop, grocery store parking lot, or police station safe-exchange zone. Avoid private residences for initial transactions.
2. Bring a Friend
Whenever possible, bring someone with you. There is safety in numbers, and a second set of eyes can help spot red flags.
3. Don't Trust, Verify
Avoid checks, money wires, or payment apps with strangers. If using Bitcoin, verify the transaction in person before handing over goods.
4. Inspect Before Paying
Thoroughly inspect the item before exchanging money. For cars, ask for maintenance records and consider a mechanic's inspection. For housing, tour the property and verify the landlord's identity.
5. Trust Your Gut
If something feels off, walk away. No deal is worth your safety. Report suspicious behavior to local authorities.
6. Verify Identity
Use Nostr's cryptographic identity to verify the seller's reputation across relays. A long-standing pubkey with positive feedback is more trustworthy than an anonymous email.
